MAVENIR BUYS BROCADE’S vEPC AND IP

Another piece of Brocade‘s IP networking business is in the hands of a new owner. Mavenir purchased Brocade’s virtual evolved packet core (vEPC) product line and IP portfolio, including the company’s research and development facility in Mumbai, India. Mavenir also said it will hire certain Brocade employees associated with the vEPC business and will work closely to support existing Brocade vEPC customers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mavenir plans to use the vEPC as part of its multi-access edge computing (MEC) and Internet of Things  (IoT) strategy. When combined with Mavenir’s extensible radio access network (xRAN), the company says it can offer a fully virtualized end-to-end next-gen core and access network.
