ip.access Shortlisted for Three Small Cell Industry 2016 Awards

Cambridge, UK, 28 April, 2016. ip.access, a Mavenir company since September 2020 and the world’s leading independent small cell product and solution provider, has been shortlisted for three industry awards ahead of the Small Cell World Summit conference in London, May 10-12.

ip.access’ Viper™ Enterprise RAN platform has been shortlisted for the Small Cell Forum Judges’ Choice award, which recognizes overall excellence, and an exceptional contribution to the development of the small cell industry.    Viper is an end-to-end Small Cell as-a-Service platform, which allows mobile operators and neutral hosts to deploy LTE and 3G base stations as easily as Wi-Fi, making it simple to boost in-building mobile coverage and capacity.

The second nomination in the “Excellence in commercial deployment – Urban” category is a joint submission with UK specialists Private Mobile Networks (PMN). PMN deployed ip.access’ nanoBTS small cell in a private network which is used by the automotive industry to validate in-car M2M services, such as eCall/e112 emergency calling.  Use of the ip.access small cell technology in dedicated spectrum provides automotive developers with a real-world drive test environment, without burdening the mobile network operator or emergency services during the development phase.

The final award nomination is in the Social Impact category, a joint submission with Caribbean mobile network operator Digicel.  Project Canopé installed 2G and 3G small cell base stations in 19 remote and inaccessible villages in French Guiana using satellite backhaul, bringing mobile connectivity to the population of these villages for the first time.

“As a pioneer of the Small Cells industry, we’re once again delighted to be nominated for these awards,” says Malcolm Gordon, CEO, ip.access.  “Our Viper platform is getting a huge amount of interest in the market, and it’s always great to have our products recognized by our industry peers.”

The Small Cell Forum industry award winners will be announced at a gala dinner in London on May 11, as part of the 3-day SWCS World exhibition and conference.

ip.access founder and CTO Nick Johnson will be presenting at the flagship technical conference, and the company will also be showcasing the Viper platform on stand 50 at the SWCS World exhibition.
