Mavenir Contributes to the Successful Launch of UK’s SmartRAN Open Network Interoperability Centre (SONIC) Labs

LONDON, UK July 6, 2021 – Mavenir, the Network Software Provider building the future of networks with cloud-native software that runs on any cloud and transforms the way the world connects, is proud to have played a leading role in the launch of the SmartRAN Open Network Interoperability Centre (SONIC Labs).  Mavenir has worked closely with Digital Catapult, DCMS and Ofcom, alongside other industry partners, to support this important element of DCMS’s Diversification Strategy since its announcement in February.

SONIC Labs focuses on key areas of interoperability and integration, examining the reality of Open RAN and successive, relevant technologies whilst enabling and encouraging innovative vendors to participate in the UK ecosystem.

Stefano Cantarelli, Mavenir’s Chief Marketing Officer said: “Participating in this SONIC Labs programme has been an honour for us. SONIC Labs and Mavenir share the same vision for innovative and open environments, as only openness and competition bring innovation. SONIC Labs’ focus on interoperability and operational capabilities, rather than functionality, makes it unique among other Innovation Labs.”

He also added: “Innovation Labs like SONIC are essential to the future of mobile networks: they enable a healthy and diverse supply chain to experiment and demonstrate innovative interoperable solutions, thus bringing forward the much required change in industry mindset on how wireless broadband networks are deployed. Mavenir remains fully committed to working closely with Digital Catapult, Ofcom and DCMS to support this fantastic initiative.”
