WHAT TELEFONICA, BT, NOKIA, QUALCOMM AND MAVENIR HAD TO SAY AT RANWORLD

At RANWorld, held in Barcelona last week, there was a clear focus on Cloud and Virtual Radio Access Networks, and specifically how to do it. Can the vendors “open up” to enable market innovation on the radio side. How will a disaggregated RAN be architected? How will it be managed? So here are the things…

MEC WILL TRANSFORM NETWORK ECONOMICS

Rapid advances in mobile computing power are pushing machine intelligence to the very edge of the network. Known as Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), this development is a critical success factor in the rise of the new 5G mobile networks that will deliver unheard of data speeds to an exponentially larger user base, and all at…

Mavenir’s Virtual Cell Site Router (vCSR)

Mavenir’s Virtual Cell Site Router (vCSR) replaces the physical cell site router with a cloud-native network function (CNF) running on the Open RAN DU server, on common-off-the-shelf (COTS) servers. For CSPs this means fewer cell site devices to power, fewer cables and points of failure and more data throughput per watt, lowering operation and management overhead, and liberating rack space that can be used for incremental revenue generating applications.
