Assessment of the infrastructure required to cope with increased Internet traffic. Mavenir's VP Marketing, Shubh Agarwal points out the importance of execution and time to market.
Mavenir Systems commissions a study that confirms lucrative messaging revenues are impacted by OTT and operators are assessing ways to deliver core-network services in the all-IP environment such as Rich Communication Ecosystem (RCE) applications.
Terry McCabe, CTO of Mavenir Systems, says there are many bumps on the road to actually offering valuable services to subscribers over LTE. He also cautions that LTE networks can create opportunities for over-the-top competitors to offer new services to consumers if operators are not ready to deploy these services themselves.
Mavenir Systems and Acme Packet are VoLTE solution suppliers for MetroPCS. The VoLTE deployment is part of the carrier's strategy to optimize its scarce spectrum resources, as VoLTE is significantly more efficient than the existing CDMA network.
As Mavenir continues to find innovative solutions for the new 4G services its customers want to develop, Mavenir’s growth will continue to be impressive.
Voice remains a killer app that can’t be ignored. Although Long Term Evolution LTE is best known for multi-megabit speeds, voice remains a killer app. In fact, operators that launch LTE with voice support, called VoLTE, can expect twice as much average revenue per user - ARPU - as rivals that offer LTE as a data-only service, and presents an opportunity says Shubh Agarwal, Mavenir's VP of Marketing.
Mavenir Systems says that carriers believe that the transition to LTE is really their last chance to avoid becoming a dumb pipe delivering data. He says carriers like Mavenir's gear because it allows them to control the quality of the customer experience for high-bandwidth consuming services such as video chat.
Could iMessage completely replace SMS? Shubh Argawal, VP of Marketing for Mavenir Solutions thinks not. "iMessage will offer another way for end-users to communicate, with enhanced user experiences. It is a clear assault on mobile operators, although given that it remains a closed Apple system it will not kill off SMS."
VoLTE will enable operators to leverage growing investment in low-cost voice core. It will help in adding telephony revenues quickly to LTE investment. Mavenir Systems in May 2011 launched the availability of VoLTE for deploying voice and messaging services over LTE.
MetroPCS is being very aggressive about moving its legacy services to LTE. MetroPCS has already shifted all of its 4G customers’ SMS and MMS traffic onto the LTE network using Mavenir’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-based messaging platform, and currently working on doing the same with voice.
When 4G LTE launches, that means that voice and SMS messaging can be delivered over a SIP/IMS network, opening the door for video and multimedia services such as RCS, RCS-e or Converged IP Messaging (CPM).
When operators add voice capabilities to their LTE networks, they're not just installing voice over LTE VoLTE technology to their IMS infrastructure. They're rolling out a service that will fundamentally change how their customers communicate.
Mavenir is targeting a market opportunity "resulting from one of the biggest technological and strategic challenges yet for mobile operators -- delivering voice and messaging services over LTE networks."
Mavenir's technology allows any type of entertainment or communication service to be delivered over any type of network, regardless of the type of device a consumer uses to receive that service.
Mobile Technologies Infrastructure Runner Up
Mavenir has made available the VoLTE Edition of its mOne Convergence Platform, which provides operators with three options for quickly and cost-effectively deploying voice and messaging services over LTE.
Mavenir has raised $40 million in its fifth round of funding and announced plans to acquire mobile messaging firm Airwide Solutions for an undisclosed sum as it ramps up its Long Term Evolution (LTE) activities. The acquisition of Airwide will also boost Mavenir's growth plans by increasing the company's international footprint as well as enhancing its product portfolio.
Unlike services such as Skype, Fring, Twilio and others that seek to deliver IP communications over the top of existing broadband networks, Mavenir wants to throw operators a lifeline to help prevent them from becoming a dumb pipe. Mavenir's gear sits inside an operator's network and offers IP communications services like video calling, more accurate presence and other ways to make a seamless transition from the type of collaboration tools offered on wireline networks to mobile ones. The company is already working with three U.S. operators...
Mavenir Systems has announced it is to acquire messaging company Airwide Solutions. Mavenir hopes the combination will position it as a global entity capable of enabling mobile operators to transform their core network and launch converged voice, video and messaging services over LTE.
Dallas-based Mavenir Systems sees its future in LTE (Long Term Evolution, latest standard in the mobile network technology) and is poised to make a product offering that it says is unparalleled to its competitors in Voice over LTE (Long Term Evolution, latest standard in the mobile network technology) by partnering with top companies.
Mavenir today announced it is supporting circuit-switch fallback in its voice-over-long-term evolution - VoLTE - platform, offering up an option to mobile operators that can’t or don’t want to make the transition to IP telephony voice services over their new LTE networks right away.
Mavenir Systems, a provider of mobile infrastructure, has announced the availability of the VoLTE Edition of its mOne Convergence Platform, a tool designed to provide operators with options for deploying voice and messaging services over LTE.
