The Mobility Application Server (MAS) provides standard mobility function to enable seamless mobility of multi-mode mobile devices for Voice and Video services over IP based access such as LTE, WiMAX and WiFi to circuit domain based on GSM, UMTS or CDMA (ANSI-41) networks. Voice and Video Mobility is a key feature for mobile operators to compete against over-the-top web services providers, such as Skype or Google Voice, as this feature requires critical network connectivity and control to offer a superior end user experience. MAS offers standards based functionality to support multi-vendor deployment and supports any standards based dual mode WiFi-2G-3G enabled with VCC or LTE mobile devices enabled with SR-VCC functionality. The key functions of the MAS are:
- Voice Call Continuity Application Server (VCC AS) supports voice calls on a dual mode mobile device as it switches from WiFi to circuit switched network and vice versa. VCC is based on 3GPP TS 23.206 standard.
- Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS) enables seamless handover of voice and multimedia sessions and services synchronization critical for LTE deployments. This supports services such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Mobile Video over LTE. For the operator who plans to deploy IMS/VoIP-based voice services in conjunction with the rollout of an LTE network, Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) provides the end to end functionality, with support from the SCC AS, to provide their VoIP subscribers with voice service coverage over a much larger area than would typically be available during the rollout of a new network.
- Domain Manager – allows for synchronization of services across IMS and CS domains to eliminate any inter-domain service discrepancies, due to independent invocation or provisioning of subscriber services (such as call forwarding number) across the domains.
The Mobility Application Server can be deployed in a standalone configuration interoperating seamlessly with any standard IMS core or voice and video application server. This product can be also integrated with the Mavenir Mobile TAS, eliminating the need for expensive standalone mobility and service adaptation layer in the network.
All Mavenir products, including application servers and gateways, are deployed on ATCA-based, award winning, Mavenir mOne Convergence Platform.
